Do you know how to find God?
From time to time, God will feel distant in our lives. This generally happens when we feel hopeless, and the thing you should remember is that giving up on Him is not the right decision.
Feeling spiritually lost doesn’t mean you are faithless. It only means that you are human, and this can sometimes happen. It is alright. And the good news is that God is not hiding. He is right here in front of us, so if you want to find God, this is not a difficult thing to do.
Finding God when you feel lost isn’t about having the right words or perfect faith. All you have to do is remain by His side and follow His word. So, let’s find out who God is and how we can become closer to Him. Are you ready to remember who He is?

God can’t be changed
Sometimes your soul will feel lost, and maybe the best thing you can do when this happens is to try to find God. I know that this might sound obvious, but stay with me to understand better why I choose to say that.
Once we feel lost, we want things to go our way, and this is where a lot of Christians make a great mistake. As soon as this happens, we are trying to find some reassurance, and this is when we tend to reshape God into something more manageable, something made just for us and our needs. I did this, and the biggest trap is that it feels good. You might feel like things are finally starting to get better, but this is just a big lie.
Longing for a God that is close to us and sympathizes with our preferences and personal plans is comforting, but the God of Scripture is not a reflection of our ever-changing emotions. God is eternal and unchangeable. God is God, and you can’t shape Him in any way. On the other hand, His holy power can shape you, and this is how you can find God when you feel lost. Even more importantly, He is not the one shaping you. In reality, you are the one who decides to follow his teachings, and this is how the gears start to move.
In Exodus 3:14, when Moses asked for God’s name, He answered, and it was a declaration of divine constancy, not a name that can be shaped by us however we like: “I AM WHO I AM.” This is also a promise that God is the same all the time, no matter if we are talking about today, yesterday, or the distant future.
In our longing to find God when we feel lost, all we need to do is remember that He is not hiding from us, and He will never evolve in a way that fits us. He is the Creator, and we are the created. This is the truth that anchors us.
God is our creator
When life is hard and faith grows dim, it is more difficult to find God. The path in front of you is clouded by uncertainty, and you might feel completely alone. I know the feeling, and I suppose we all are familiar with it. Some are more resilient and can resist better, but most of the time, when life is cruel, keeping our faith alive might feel like a challenge.
But my advice is to always return to the following idea: God is the Creator. He created the earth, He created the heavens, and He is also the one who created you. This is also what Genesis 1:1 tells us, and it is more than the opening line of Scripture. This is an invitation to remember who God is when we forget who we are.
In my family, we learned to find the deepest comfort in questions like “Who is God?” or “What is our only hope in life and death?” Yes, this can sound eerie, but try to answer them, and you will notice how this can lead you into a beautiful stream of thoughts about who God is and, in the end, to the idea that He is the one who created us and all the things that surround us.
As soon as you start to feel disoriented, you can try to go back to the beginning and see if this helps you. For most people, it does, because once they understand that before anything else, before things such as pain and sorrow, there was God, it all starts to make sense. Once you manage to realize this, you will be aware that God is not just a distant deity that watches over us. No. He is part of us, and this is how we are all connected to the universe we live in.
God is good
Disappointment is part of our lives, and when we don’t know where to turn, this is the perfect moment to find God. But why is this the best time for that, you might wonder? Well, there is one big truth about God, and that is that He is good. God is good, and the proof is everywhere.
The goodness of God is eternal, and it is not related to circumstances. This is how He is, and nothing will change this fact. It is all streaming from the inside of His very nature: holy, righteous, and loving. This goodness is what explains His forgiveness and why He never lets go of the ones who are calling for Him.
Sometimes, when you start losing your hope, you might hear a voice whispering to you, “God doesn’t care. God isn’t kind. God is distant.” But when this happens, you should turn to the Scripture and see what the Holy Book has to say. The Bible declares the opposite, and all you need to know and trust is that God is good, faithful, and full of mercy.
One thing you need to remember is that His mercy and forgiveness don’t mean that life will be easy. But you will never be alone in all of this. So, choose the right place to anchor your heart and try to find God in your life.

God is unchanging
There is a clear distinction between God being unchanged and God being unchanging. Anything can happen in the world and in the universe; God will never change. He is the prime example of consistency that we need to follow. The unpredictability of our days might change us, but they will never change Him. And this is how thighs should be.
What we need to do is never let ourselves be led by diverse and strange teachings. We should give our hearts to Him and follow His path. The world can be a confusing place, but since God is like a rock unaffected by the storms is easier to stick with Him and move forward.
And since He never changes, so do His promises for the world. That means when everything around us feels uncertain, we don’t need to be. We can trust God. The world might be shifting constantly, but if we anchor ourselves in Him, we will be safe.
