4 Daily Rituals to Bring You Closer to God

Want to Feel God’s Presence More Often in Your Busy Daily Life?

We live in a world of chaos, am I right? We all tend to think that life is about chasing the next thing. The next job. The next vacation. The next milestone. And basically, that’s exactly how we lived for years and years. But… when was the last time you thanked God for everything that’s happening in your life?

I believe in God and His power, but I’ve spent a huge part of my life without focusing on my faith. I was so busy with all those ordinary things that I almost forgot the power that kept me going further. Until recently, God felt like someone I’d visit at church on Sunday, but not a constant presence in my life.

I guess things shifted once I turned 50. I randomly started to think about retirement and how a new phase of my life is slowly but surely approaching. I realized that my life was coming to an end and I needed to be more present.

When we are young and free, retirement seems so far away, and the thoughts about being a senior are not scary at all. Well, as we age, things drastically change.

The transformation

It never happens through the night, but adults start to notice more. All of a sudden, they start to journal their little moments of gratitude, acknowledge the tiny things happening in their life, and be aware of their blessings.

It’s interesting how once you begin to pay attention to all the beautiful things happening in your life, you will feel less alone.

I started to pray every day and make time for moments just for myself. For example, I established a walking routine and I love going out and reconnecting with nature. The awareness I’ve experienced shaped my perspective and brought me closer to God.

We live in a world that moves too fast. We scroll without seeing, eat without tasting, and even talk without listening. So, what daily rituals do is help us create space for God in our busy lives. And the best part? They are simple and you don’t have to make drastic changes to feel closer to God.

4 Daily Rituals to Bring You Closer to God

1. Be grateful

Remember that gratitude opens our eyes to all that God is doing around us. Take your time and acknowledge all the beautiful things happening in your life. One of the easiest and also powerful ways you can do that is by beginning your day by simply being grateful. It will set the tone for everything that follows, making it easier to experience God’s Presence in the moments ahead.

When you wake up in the morning, take a moment to breathe deeply and give thanks for the gift of like, for the new day you’re about to start, and also for those countless blessings that you often overlook. It might seem a simple practice, but it can easily become a ritual that will ground you and allow you to connect with God.

Oh, and don’t get me wrong! You don’t need to thank God just for the big things, you need to learn to appreciate the small moments because those are the ones that truly matter. Just the ability to be healthy, walk, and see the sunlight, should be enough to set your mood for the entire day. We tend to forget how lucky and blessed we are. So, open a door to deeper peace and embrace these moments of gratitude. Once you manage to do that, you will set the foundation of joy and thankfulness that will carry you through every challenge.

2. Be kind

The acts of kindness are more important than you can even imagine and they can help you get closer to God. So, whenever you find opportunities to serve others, do it. It’s extremely easy to get caught up in our own lives, but taking the time to serve others, even in a small way, it’s like inviting God’s love to flow through us.

Making service part of your routine will not only make you feel great but also remind you that loving others is one of the best ways to honor God. And don’t get me wrong! These acts don’t need to be grand or dramatic. The smallest ones are those who truly matter.

Service shouldn’t be just about what we do for others, but also about what we do for our hearts. Every act of kindness has the power to strengthen our connection with God and remind us of the love He shows us continuously. So, I encourage you to start embracing small acts of service each day, no matter how insignificant they may seem. These small acts will do their magic and bring you closer to God, as they reflect his love in tangible ways.

3. Count your blessings before bed

At the end of each day, try to make a recap and spot a few moments you are thankful for. It’s a simple but also effective ritual that will transform the way you end your day. Reflect on everything you did that day, the interactions you had, and even the beauty of a sunset. As you think about these blessings you can offer thanks to God for the ways He has shown His presence.

When I started doing this practice it helped me focus on gratitude rather than on any challenges or difficulties I’ve faced during the day. I know how easy it can be to complain about problems, but by taking your time to reflect on everything that went well, you will cultivate a heart of thankfulness. As you acknowledge the blessings God offered you, you will trust Him with the future.

4. Meditate

In the moments when you feel lost or you simply struggle, I promise you that meditating on God’s promises will help you stay grounded. Take time to focus on specific promises from Scripture, letting it fill your heart with hope and reassurance. God’s promises will serve as anchors for your soul and remind you that no matter what happens in life, He is with you.

Meditation doesn’t mean just reading the Scripture, you can simply do it by reflecting on the meanings of God’s promises. Repeat specific verses that make you feel better throughout the day and let them be the foundation of your faith and fill your heart with peace.

Keep in mind that His promises are not just words on a page, they are words that have the purpose to guide you through life, so meditating on them will offer you the power to move forward.

Before leaving, I would recommend you purchase a journal from Amazon. It helped me to stay connected with my thoughts and count my blessings. Sometimes, I feel the need to write down all the things I am grateful for. This way, it’s easier for me to see and feel God’s role in my life. I started this practice a few years ago. Even though I don’t write things down daily, it’s still a great practice that should be considered, especially when the purpose is to strengthen the connection with Divinity.

I usually purchase my journals from Amazon, and since I found this specific brand, I stuck to it.
